Press Releases

WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Congressman Brad Finstad (MN-01) released the following statement following his vote on the Continuing Appropriations and Other Matters Act, 2025, legislation that would extend government funding for an additional six months, while also ensuring proof of citizenship in order to vote in our elections:

“In Minnesota, we have seen the detrimental consequences of the Biden-Harris Administration’s open border policies, affecting everything from the safety of our neighbors to the integrity of our elections. Just recently, Secretary of State Steve Simon stated that around 1 percent, or roughly 1,000, of the new automatic voter registrations were problematic and in need of name, address, and citizenship confirmations. Despite the gravity of these errors, Governor Tim Walz has not addressed how non-citizens in Minnesota have appeared on voter rolls and even received ballots,” said Rep. Finstad. “I voted for this bill because we owe it to the American people to secure our elections and protect their rights as citizens to vote.”

“It is the honor of a lifetime to serve and represent Minnesota’s First District in Congress, and I will continue to stand up for the best interests of our communities. I voted in favor of this legislation because it includes the SAVE Act, a bill that prevents non-citizens, including illegal immigrants, from voting in our elections."
