Congress

The Constitution grants Congress the power of the purse, yet too often this responsibility has been neglected in Washington. Instead of passing responsible budgets and stand-alone appropriations bills, Congress has increasingly relied on continuing resolutions and last-minute, catch-all spending packages just to keep the government running.

Taxpayers deserve better. It is past time for Congress to return to regular order and deliver responsible, balanced budgets that reflect the needs of the American people without adding to our already unsustainable national debt.

In Congress, I remain committed to putting people ahead of bureaucracy and to ensuring government operates as efficiently and responsibly as possible for southern Minnesotans.
