WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brad Finstad (MN-01) issued a statement following his appointment to the Canada-United States Interparliamentary Group:
“I am honored to be part of this important opportunity for dialogue and collaboration between the United States and Canada,” said Rep. Finstad. “Not only do we share a border with our neighbors to the north, but the partnership between the U.S. and Canada is integral for agricultural trade, as well as economic and national security. I look forward to working with my colleagues in Congress and our Canadian counterparts to strengthen the relationship between our two countries.”
The mission of the association is to strengthen an exchange of ideas and information to better address issues of shared national interest, including trade, national security, and resource development. The group meets annually and consists of members of both the Canadian Senate and House of Commons, the U.S Senate, and U.S. House of Representatives, including Rep. Bill Huizenga, the Republican Co-Chair of the Interparliamentary Group:
"I am excited to have Rep. Finstad as a member of the Canada-US IPG," said Rep. Huizenga. "Brad's experience in agriculture and understanding of rural development will provide valuable insight as we work to strengthen our economic relationship and diplomatic ties with our neighbors in Canada."
Reps. Pete Stauber (MN-08), Jack Bergman (MI-01), Nick Langworthy (NY-23), and Claudia Tenney (NY-24) were also appointed to serve as members of the group.
