WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Brad Finstad (MN-01) issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act.
“The unprecedented crisis at our southern border is a direct result of the Biden Administration’s failed policies which, frankly, are putting our national security at risk and have created a humanitarian crisis,” said Rep. Finstad.
“With the Title 42 expulsion authority expiring today, President Biden and his administration are without a plan to stop the flow of illegal immigrants coming across our southern border, allowing the cartels to smuggle fentanyl into our communities. It is past time that we get serious about securing our border and restoring the rule of law in our country, which is exactly what this bill does.
“The Secure the Border Act provides real, common-sense solutions to secure our border by resuming construction of the southern border wall, modernizing border security technology, alleviating staffing shortages for the Customs and Border Patrol, and supporting local law enforcement agencies to enhance border security. I am proud to join my House Republican colleagues in voting to pass this legislation today.”
