WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brad Finstad (MN-01) issued the following statement after today’s votes on four funding bills for law enforcement programs.

Congressman Finstad voted “no” on two of the bills: H.R. 8542 and H.R. 4118, saying, “Instead of fixing their bad policies, Democrats put forward this legislation in an attempt to patch up the damage done by their anti-police agenda and win the goodwill of voters less than two months from an election,” said Congressman Finstad.  “The radical Left and their reckless “Defund the Police” movement is directly responsible for the rampant crime we are seeing in Minnesota and across the country. I opposed these bills because they do nothing to fix the Left’s bad policy; but only throw large sums of money toward bad solutions.”

However, Congressman Finstad voted in support of two of the bills: H.R. 6448, the Invest to Protect Act and H.R. 5768, the VICTIM Act. “I voted in support of these bills because I believe that, in order for law enforcement to do their job effectively, they need properly targeted resources, said Congressman Finstad. “These bills give them the ability to recruit, hire, train, and retain qualified officers to investigate violent crime, as well as provide adequate support for victims, survivors, and their families.”
