NEW ULM, MN – Congressman Brad Finstad (MN-01) visited Nobles and Rock counties for roundtable discussions and Q&A sessions with area leaders about issues impacting communities in southwestern Minnesota.
First, Congressman Finstad attended a Rural Housing and Economic Development Roundtable in Worthington with city and county officials and area housing leaders to discuss their efforts to increase access to affordable housing in the area. Afterward, Congressman Finstad joined members of the Lewis and Clark Regional Water System and Rock County Rural Water for a roundtable discussion in Luverne to discuss ongoing expansion projects in the First Congressional District and Congressman Finstad’s work in Congress to support these infrastructure priorities. Congressman Finstad then met with representatives from the Buffalo Ridge Regional Rail Authority, along with Nobles and Rock County officials, to give an update on federal resources available to local railroad operations.
“It was an honor to be in Nobles and Rock counties to hear directly from area leaders about their efforts to serve the folks in southwestern Minnesota,” said Rep. Finstad. “Whether it be discussing the need for more accessible rural housing, strengthening economic development, or upgrading the water systems our neighbors rely on, I’m committed to giving farm country a seat at the table and delivering for rural communities like Worthington and Luverne.”
Finstad continued, “Throughout my time in Congress, I’ve helped secure $1 million for the construction of a new water tower in Rock County and over $20 million in funding for Lewis & Clark Regional Water System infrastructure, which provides water to numerous communities in southwestern Minnesota. I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring this critical funding to the First District and to advocate for the places we’re proud to call home.”
