ROCHESTER, MN – Today, Congressman Brad Finstad (MN-01) attended and delivered remarks at the Flint Hill Resources ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blending facility hosted by the Minnesota SAF Hub. SAF is an innovative, certified alternative jet fuel produced using renewable feedstocks like corn and soybeans.
“As a fourth-generation farmer, representing my fellow farmers across southern Minnesota, it was an honor to attend today’s event,” said Rep. Finstad. “This blending facility helps turn SAF from an idea into a real opportunity for both our agriculture and aviation economies, taking feedstock and turning it into fuel for Americans to take flight.”
Finstad continued, “I was proud to support H.R. 1, the Working Families Tax Cuts, which extended the 45Z Clean Fuel Production Credit, providing an on-ramp for SAF production and marketing opportunities for farmers in our state. I look forward to this project’s success and continuing to work in Congress to ensure SAF remains a part of our future in farm country.”

- The Minnesota SAF Hub produces SAF at scale, delivers it to the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP), and links suppliers in production, transportation, renewable energy, refining, and more.
- MSP is a major hub with 15 airlines, including Delta Airlines, which aims for 10% SAF usage in the U.S. by 2030.
- H.R. 1 extended the 45Z Clean Fuel Production Credit, a huge boom for biofuel and SAF production in the state by unlocking billions of dollars in new investments across rural America, supporting strong, stable markets for America’s farmers and positioning American biofuel producers to compete in global fuel markets.
- 45Z is intended to incentivize the production of any transportation fuel with zero or low greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Specifically, 45Z is critical for biofuels industry stakeholders to spur investments in the emerging SAF market.
